  • Arco - bow
  • Arco in giu - downbow
  • a 2 - by two or both players
  • a 3, etc. - by three or more players
  • Attacca - begin the next or begin here
  • Bacchetta - stick (drum)
  • Bis (Biz) - twice (repeat)
  • Chiuso - closed, stopped (brass)
  • Colle Voce _ with the voice accompaniment
  • Colpo di Lingua - tonguing
  • Con la bacchetta - with drumstick
  • Con la mazza - with bass drumstick
  • Con sordina - with mute
  • Corda- string
  • Divisi - divided parts
  • Fiati- woodwonds

  • Lunga pausa - long pause (hold or long period of silence)

  • Ponticello - near the bridge ( bow)
  • Portando - slow glissando (string or trombone)
  • Posizione - position (string or trombone)
  • Sempre - always
  • Senza sordino - without mute
  • Stromenti a fiato di logno - woodwind instruments
  • Stromenti da corda - string instruments
  • Stromenti a fiato d'ottone - brass instruments
  • Stromenti da fiati - wind instruments
  • Stromenti pulsatilia - percussion instruments
