Jaime Laredo was born in Cochabamba, Bolivia in 1941. He holds the status of national hero in Bolivia, with a stadium named for him in La Paz and commemorative set of twelve postage stamps issued in his name.
Jaime Laredo succeeded Josef Gingold as President of the Competition Jury for the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis
He is artistic advisor for the the Vermont Symphony for the 1999 and 2000 summer and winter seasons.
