Love this site to bits. But Sheila please help me with a contact for Dr Fulton - you will remeber my enquiry earlier when I was writing my biography of Yehudi Menuhin. Have just heard the CBS Concert on Demand interview with Dr Fulton and James Ehnes and would like to contribute a few corrections about facts concerning the Lord Wilton del Gesu that belonged to Menuhin from 1978 until 1999.

I loved your site. I want to purchase 2 violins with a good sound for myself and my 11 year old. We are both beginners, but know enough that we want the quality. In years past, my older children took violin lessons. They did it with inexpensive student violins and got really frustrated and ended up quitting due to the sound and quality. Now, I am in a position to take it up and have a little money to spare... It wouldn't do me any good to "try" the violin out first, as I don't know enough of what to look for...I would be purchasing it in the Portland, OR area if anyone has an idea...

Hello Sheila,
I came across your website a year or so ago, and again tonight. I am IN AWE of your website, which seems to have grown since my last visit. As a violinist and violin and viola teacher, I am so impressed with every facet of your site. Now I am very curious to learn more about you. I have never seen a violin website with more clever pictures and information for violinists of any age or ilk! You are obviously a dedicated and creative teacher, and a role model for the rest of us! THANK YOU!!!
Best Wishes, Susan Brenneis-Fisher

Dear Shiela,
I discovered your website by accident and really love what you have done here. I hope you get a chance to try some of my violins that I made one day. By the way, I was Midori's violin maker-restorer back in NY and took care of her violins and bows at my NEW YORK VIOLIN SHOP. I t seems like only yesterday when she broke those e-strings at Tanglewood playing the Bernstein serenade! Look forward meeting you and all the best. Phillip Injeian.

Hello, Shiela.
My brother and I love this website! There's a lot of great stuff. We don't actually play the violin, though (we can play piano, guitar, drums, and VIOLA. But, that is just combined list.)but it's still KOOL. Anyway, we love your website. It's the best (and probably the only one that isn't an advertisemnet) violin website EVER!!!
We'll go on a LOT. Keep on adding things to the site!

Discovered you by accident, looking to see what violins F Kreisler played and owned. I am writing a pastiche about Sherlock Holmes who was in Vienna in 1891 and met Kreisler. K gave him some lessons as SH owned a violin which was said by Arthur Conan Doyle to be a Strad obtained for a song at a London street market but Kreisler proves it to be cheap copy. SH was of course. Carl

Wow! There's so much I could say about your site but I'll simply say THANK YOU! I live in the Whitsundays (Queensland, Australia), and being a little remote it is very difficult to gain access to teachers. In fact the teacher I have at the moment is finishing at the end of this year and the nearest violin teacher will then be almost 2 hours drive away, so your site really was valuable. Thank you for your generousity in sharing your teaching experience.

Hi,
I'm a professional violinist up here in BC, Canada. I have been teaching violin privately and playing with the symphony here for some years. My stand partner at the symphony is also an awesome pianist and we get together at times for chamber music. We were debating on a Beethoven but then I heard a friend play parts of the Franck Sonata this past weekend at the symphony during a break and I became all excited to hear this beautiful sonata I had not heard in years. Then I asked my stand partner, "How about the Franck sonata?"...We are both in the mood for something passionate and something we can really "dig our teeth into!" Being French myself, I feel very excited at the prospect of playing this sonata I have actually never played. So it should be quite a treat! So, thank you for your site. I found it to be helpful and informative! I am guessing that you are a violinist yourself?...I often wonder when I play or students play, "Is this what the composer really wanted?" I often ask myself this question when it comes to how we express our feelings through the music...how we do a certain phrasing, how much bow we use, what bowing we use, etc. I guess all we can do is the best we can with the information we have.
Josie, BC., Canada
